Austin and I used to work together a few years back and he is crazy! Always coming into the office with one awesome idea after another, most them were just ridiculous, but awesome nonetheless.
I would have to credit him and another friend, Mat, for giving me a whole new view of design and sparking an interest in it which has led to a greater appreciation of it.
Name: Austin Eidson
Graphic design. The cool thing about my style is that I'm pushed to try something new every project. During the day I'm the Art Director/Designer at Christ In Youth, so every season has a new look and feel to the programs. I am mostly contacted by people to do logo design and brand development.
I definitely draw inspiration from other people. I'm part of an amazing community of designers at dribbble and seeing the amazing work people do, gets the creative mojo flowing.
Some of my creative heroes would be the work of Neil Kellerhouse in L.A., flawless. National Forest also out of L.A. can do no wrong in my eyes.
I create mostly in my office at CIY is my favorite creative factory, but I try to setup camp at home as much as possible. With a 6 and 2 year old running around that gets a little challenging sometimes.
How do you make time for your art: I am blessed enough to actual say that's what I get to do all day. If you ask my daughter what her daddy does she says, "He gets to color all day and play with his friends".
Without a doubt I feel my art serves purpose. At CIY, we exist to build up Kingdom workers which is using your gifts and talents to help further the Kingdom. I like to think that designing an awesome campaign will be enough to persuade a student/youth minister to experience an awesome time at our events.
I still feel like I'm learning. There are some buttons in Photoshop, Illustrator and inDesign that I have zero clue what they do. They could butter my bread for all I know.
I'm not sure if some of the insecurities I deal with is laziness or A.D.D., but sometimes it's so hard to get into the creative minde...oh... HEY! A jelly doughnut!

I would like to see my designs get a little more cleaner in the future, but more impactful. Starting out my career in digital collage, you learn quickly that you can say a ton with a lot of stuff going on. In the future I hope to say a lot with little on a page.
To the college student/entry level designer, pick up the phone and call agencies and firms and see if you can be a part of their team. I called 3 agencies before one of them said yes.
At CIY I'm working on all the summer programs apparel currently. Freelancing, I've been doing a ton of stuff for unearthedpictures.
I frequent thefoxisblack, dribbble, sharesomecandy and changethethought
